Trek packing and Mutual Activity
This Wednesday the 6th we will have mutual at 7:00pm. Bring your trek 5 gallon buckets PACKED so we can look through them and make sure you have the essentials! Good luck with trek!
Here is a packing list for trek:
Camel pack, canteen or attachable water bottle
Personal first-aid kit or equivalent including:
...band-aids, antibiotics (Neosporin), moleskin (blisters),
Tweezers, A&D or Desitin, baby powder (for chafing) etc.
Personal care kit including:
...Hand sanitizer, deodorant, comb (brush), wash cloth,
hand towel, tooth brush & paste, feminine hygiene products,
prescriptions, allergy medication, insect repellant
(should contain DEET), sunscreen & sunglasses.
Small flashlight with fresh batteries
Hat...should have broad brim to offer most sun protection; this
includes hats for girls
Pajamas
Rain slicker or poncho and medium weight coat
Walking/hiking shoes...must be broken-in (NOT NEW!!!!)
Warm sleeping bag, pillow and sleeping pad...all rolled together
and not to exceed 6” across (we’ll be lenient!)
One complete change of clothing including undergarments; 3
extra pairs of comfortable socks
Sturdy gloves
Journal or pad to record thoughts, impressions, activities
Personal mess kit or pie tin with fork
A five-gallon bucket with lid
ITEMS TO CONSIDER:
Your hat should have
a broad brim and a chin
strap (do you think the
wind might blow in Skull
Valley?); a bandanna for your
neck would be a good idea.
Modesty will be key when deciding what you should
wear and what pajamas to bring. Let’s keep the
values we know to be correct!!
No shorts whatsoever! Shirts with sleeves and collars
are best; nylon stockings worn under regular
socks can help to prevent blisters
A spare pair of light gym shoes may be a good idea,
but all shoes must be well broken-in
Your five-gallon bucket will be your suitcase...all your
personal stuff must fit in that bucket (with the exception
of your sleeping bag, pillow, pad and coat).
The lid must attach securely.
DO NOT BRING:
New shoes, flip flops, sandals...only sturdy shoes
Cell phones, ipods, radios or any other electronic
equipment (these will be confiscated during trek)
Snacks, candy or soda...snacks will be provided on
the trail.
Any clothing that will not meet church standards.
It might be a good idea to label everything with your name and ward!
