Trek Update

The previous trek post said to have everything packed in a 10 gallon bucket. It is NOT a 10 gallon bucket, it is a FIVE gallon bucket. Sorry for the mis-information! It has been corrected in the trek post as well.

Girl's Camp Activity: Wednesday May 30

Come to the church and meet in the BACK nursery room at 7:00pm. We will NOT be meeting with the Young Men for opening exercises. Come in clothes you can get dirty!

Trek Information

Here is the information about Trek the Stake provided us with: How will trek be organized? You will know which families you're in and who your "youth family leaders" are. Two families will have a couple acting as co-captains to assist the youth family leaders. Approx 12-14 families will comprise a company which will be led by a Trail Boss and Assistant Trail Boss. There are 3 companies. Furthermore, 3 medical staff will be assigned to each company. Misc items you may find helpful: *Bring comfortable hiking shoes *Bring a second pair of hiking shoes-you may get your first pair wet or muddy! *Bring sunscreen!! *DRINK WATER!!! LOTS OF WATER!!!! *Read your scriptures each day :) Day of Departure: *DO NOT BE LATE!!!!!! We will leave on time!!!! *If you are not 45 minutes early, you will be late!!!! *Eat breakfast (a GOOD breakfast) before you come...NO breakfast will be served the first day. *Bring your lunch for the first day! Bring more than a lunchable. You WILL get hungry! *Did we mention DO NOT BE LATE!!!! *Trek will be on the "buddy system"...kind of like missionaries, you will go forth in "two's." *DON'T BE LATE!!! Thoughts on why we go to trek: Trek takes the place of youth conference so we want it to be fun. But Trek has a higher purpose-it is intended to build a link between you and your pioneer heritage. Our ancestors truly did suffer physically, but your challenges today are just as difficult, and, from an eternal perspective, perhaps even more dangerous. Through physical challenges our pioneer ancestors found their Heavenly Father in a manner otherwise unattainable; today we find our Heavenly Father by carefully navigating temptations the likes of which our ancestors couldn't imagine. You're up to the task, this trek should help. Other helpful info: *EVERYTHING must be packed in a 5 gallon bucket, INCLUDING your lunch for the first day. The only thing that is not included in your bucket is your sleeping gear.
